Fishing trip for my fiance?

I am considering planning a fishing trip for my fiance. We live in NJ and I don't want to fly anywhere. I am thinking a weekend trip to New York or somewhere where he could fish into the Atlantic. Would I need to get him a fishing license? (He never keeps the fish.) I want to get a lodge or something for the weekend also. Any suggestions as to good spots to take him that are in the NE area and are nearby to other sights to take advantage of for the weekend. I am planning on going sometime between Sept and November...

Answers:

1The Outer Banks of North Carolina. It's not that far from the Northeast.

The fishing there is absolutely awesome in the fall. You can fish in the surf, creeks or the ocean and almost be guaranteed to catch something.

An extra bonus is that it's beautiful there. Prices are reasonable.
